1 A.M. on Tengo Talento Mucho Talento: A Reflective Experience

That One Time On Tengo Talento Mucho Talento

For those who don't know, back in 2019, I was a contestant on the Mexican talent show Tengo Talento Mucho Talento. It wasn't really a big deal to me at the time, so I didn't talk about it much. I also decided to perform using my real name, which was Cassidy Guerrero (before I got married). My mom suggested I try out and just see what happens. So I did!

Surprisingly, I made it to the first round and filmed for the second. However, they never aired the second video because I was eliminated (at least as far as I know).

My experience on the show wasn't entirely positive, but I’m not here to bash it. I am grateful for the opportunity to be on TV and make my mom proud. That’s what truly matters, along with the fun times we had traveling. Plus how many people can say they performed on international TV?! A lot of the other contestants were fun, mostly nice, and especially talented. I'm glad I got to make some friends along the way.

Yes, I got eliminated for not speaking Spanish, but that doesn’t diminish the experience or the memories we created. I do want to say that talent is talent, no matter what language it’s in.

I’m revisiting this memory to share the lessons it taught me. This experience truly opened my eyes to the impact our energy has on others, the judgmental nature of the world, the importance of learning about your own culture, and standing strong against negativity. I also gained insights into how the TV industry works and learned that simply saying "yes" can open doors to more opportunities.

I hope this story inspires you to keep working towards your dreams. Make it happen and stay motivated!
